Richard B. Stamps

Richard B. Stamps is an Associate Professor of Anthropology at Oakland University, affiliated with the Department of Sociology, Anthropology, Social Work and Criminal Justice. His research focuses on anthropology, archaeology, Chinese prehistory, 19th-century North America, and applied anthropology. He has contributed to publications such as BYU Studies and the Retrieving Michigan’s Buried Past series. His work explores topics ranging from Mormon missionary impacts in Taiwan to historical preservation of sites like Edison’s Boyhood Home and Fort Gratiot.

Stamps teaches courses including AN 101 Human and Cultural Evolution, AN 210 Applied Anthropology, and AN 362 Peoples and Cultures of China. He is based in Varner Hall, Room 526, and can be reached at stamps@oakland.edu.
