Rich Gurney

Dr. Rich Gurney serves as Professor and Chair of the Chemistry and Physics Department at Simmons University. His research focuses on Green Chemistry Education, sustainable material development, and antimicrobial systems. He has pioneered curriculum redesign integrating research into undergraduate laboratories and developed innovative green chemistry teaching approaches through the Science Mentoring Assistantships for Research Training (SMART) program.

His investigations span antibacterial adhesives, greener polymeric systems for antimicrobial surfaces, and detection methods for endocrine disruptors in consumer products.
