Reza Saatchi

Professor Reza Saatchi is a Professor of Electronics (Medical Engineering) at Sheffield Hallam University, where he has been since 1993. He leads research in medical electronic engineering, focusing on non-invasive diagnostic technologies such as noncontact respiration monitoring, bone density assessment, thermal imaging, and accelerometry for arthritis and balance analysis. His work integrates artificial intelligence and signal processing to address clinical challenges, with over 150 publications and numerous grants from institutions like the National Institute for Health Research and Medical Research Council.

He teaches across electronic engineering degrees and MSc programs, emphasizing digital signal processing, artificial intelligence, and communication networks. His notable awards include the 2016 College Inspirational Lecturer Award. Professor Saatchi holds leadership roles, including Chair of the Faculty Research Ethics Committee and memberships in the Materials and Engineering Research Institute Executive Committee and University Research and Innovation Committee.

His research collaborations span Sheffield Children's Hospital, University of Sheffield, and international institutions. Key projects include vibration analysis for bone density, thermal imaging for pediatric fractures, and AI-driven trauma survival prediction. He has supervised over 20 PhD students and actively contributes to academic governance and external examining.
