Reza Rizvi

Reza Rizvi is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Lassonde School of Engineering, York University. He joined York University on July 1st, 2019, after serving as an Associate Professor at the University of Toledo in Ohio, USA.

• Education: PhD in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering from the University of Toronto; BASc in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Toronto.
• Postdoctoral Fellowships: NSERC Postdoctoral Fellow at UCLA Chemistry Department; TVN Postdoctoral Fellowship at Toronto Rehabilitation Institute.

His research focuses on the scalable manufacturing of advanced materials such as adaptive polymers, graphene, and other 2D layered nanomaterials, integrating them into nano-enabled systems and composites for multidisciplinary engineering applications. He has secured significant funding from organizations including the National Science Foundation (US), NASA, NSERC, and Magna.

His work has been published in journals like Advanced Materials, ACS Publications, and AIP Publications, and has resulted in 4 patents. He has also presented his research at multiple international conferences.

Reza Rizvi has previously worked on materials for non-slip winter footwear, flexible pressure sensing nanocomposites, fully bio-based green composites for the automotive industry, and environmental testing of automotive rubbers and plastics. He maintains an active research website at Pixel Lab.
