Rejoice Akapame

Rejoice Akapame serves as Associate Professor and Faculty Fellow for DEIJ in the Division of Engineering & Mathematics at the School of Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics, University of Washington Bothell, where she has been a faculty member since 2015.

Her academic credentials include:

• PhD in Mathematics Education from Montana State University Bozeman (2012)
• MSc Ed in Mathematics from Bindura University of Science Education (2006)
• BSc Ed in Mathematics & Geography from Bindura University of Science Education (2002)

Dr. Akapame's research centers on democratizing mathematics education through innovative approaches including mathematical modeling, K-16 technology integration, and specialized pedagogical strategies for English Language Learners. Her current work investigates Scratch programming as a computational thinking tool for middle school mathematical problem-solving, emphasizing real-world applications and inclusive instructional design to advance equity in mathematics learning.
