Reem Bahdi

Reem Bahdi is the Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Windsor, a historic first for Canada. She holds the rank of Professor and is a leading scholar in human rights law, Indigenous rights, and access to justice. Her roles include appointments to the International Association of Law Schools’ Board of Governors and the Independent Advisory Board for Supreme Court of Canada Judicial Appointments. Bahdi has been recognized nationally and internationally for her advocacy, including the Guthrie Award (2017) and induction into the Royal Society of Canada (2015). She leads initiatives such as the Class Action Clinic and the Transnational Law and Justice Network, focusing on public interest litigation and human dignity. Her work addresses systemic inequities, including Indigenous land rights, Palestinian human rights, and gender-based violence. Bahdi has advised on legal reforms impacting marginalized communities and contributed to high-impact litigation, such as securities class action settlements. She also advocates against racial stereotyping and promotes equitable placemaking through interdisciplinary collaborations.
