Rebecca Sanchez

Dr. Rebecca Sanchez is an Assistant Professor of Microbiology at the University of the Incarnate Word. She earned her PhD in Microbiology from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in 2013, focusing on Herpes Simplex Virus evasion mechanisms, and a BS in Zoology from Auburn University in 2005. Her research explores virology, immunology, and science education outreach, particularly developing STEAM/STEM programs for underserved K-12 communities.

Dr. Sanchez actively mentors Girl Scouts and designs curriculum to enhance science education accessibility. Her work bridges academic research and community engagement, emphasizing practical applications of virology in vaccine development and science literacy.
