Dr. Chunfu Zheng is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Calgary's Department of Microbiology Immunology and Infectious Diseases. Previously, he held professorial positions at Wuhan Institute of Virology (Chinese Academy of Sciences) and Soochow University before joining Fujian Medical University. He earned his Ph.D. in Medical Sciences from Chongqing Medical University, China, and completed postdoctoral training at the University of Saskatchewan and University of Calgary.
His research focuses on antiviral innate immunity targeting herpesviruses (herpes simplex virus types 1/2, varicella-zoster virus) and viral immune evasion mechanisms. This work spans virology, immunology, and infectious diseases, with over 120 publications in leading journals.
