Rebecca Goodale is a Part-time Associate Professor of Art and Founding Coordinator of the Kate Cheney Chappell '83 Center for Book Arts at the University of Southern Maine. She has taught Book Arts and Design at USM for four decades. Her work focuses on artist’s books about Maine’s rare plants and animals, blending her textile design background with printmaking to create large-scale repeatable patterns.
Education:
- BFA in Textile Design from Memphis College of Art
Research & Creative Work: Goodale’s practice merges ecological themes with textile and printmaking aesthetics. Her artist’s books are held in prominent collections such as the Library of Congress, Yale University, and the Portland Museum of Art. Recent projects revisit textile design principles to develop scalable pattern systems.
