Rasmus Andersen

Rasmus Andersen is a Researcher at the Department of History of the European University Institute (EUI) since 2022. His work focuses on the legacies of Trotskyism and the broader revolutionary left, analyzing themes of bureaucracy, capitalism, and revolutionary thought from 1938 to the early 21st century. He contributes to the research project "The Legacies of the 'Russian Question': bureaucracy, capitalism and revolution in social and political thought, 1938-2000".

His research interests center on 20th-century political and social thought, with a particular emphasis on how bureaucratic structures and capitalist dynamics influenced revolutionary movements. His doctoral thesis, "The Legacies of Trotsky: Bureaucracy, Capitalism and Revolution on the (Post)Revolutionary Left, 1938-2008", supervised by Nicolas Guilhot, explores the ideological evolution of Marxist currents beyond the Soviet Union.
