Rashmi Sharma

Rashmi Sharma is an Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership at Western Illinois University (WIU), located within the School of Education (SoE). She holds dual roles: academic faculty and educational technology leader. She manages the College of Education and Human Services' (COEHS) Instructional Multi-Media (IMM) Lab, supporting faculty and students in technology integration. Her academic background includes a doctorate in Educational Administration (2016) and a master’s in International Affairs (2012), both from Ohio University. She actively serves as MWERA President, GCDC Board member, and JIS editorial board contributor.

Her research focuses on social justice in education, culturally responsive teaching, and international student inclusion. She has pioneered programs addressing marginalized communities in rural Himalayan regions and developed technology plans for COEHS. Awards include the Ford Foundation’s IFP and AAUW International Fellowships for social justice work.

Recent publications emphasize online learning strategies, global practicum experiences, and culturally responsive pedagogy. Her work bridges technology integration with equity goals, reflected in projects like storytelling-based language learning and faculty cultural awareness training.
