Rangoato Hlasane is an Assistant Professor of Contemporary Art / Global South at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne (KHM). He holds a PhD in African Literature from the University of the Witwatersrand and an MAFA from the University of Johannesburg (2011). His practice centers Indigenous Knowledge Systems, African Popular Culture, and Black Public Humanities, with a focus on socio-spatial justice and embodied knowledge. He co-founded Keleketla! Library (2008), nominated for the Vera List Prize (2014), and has exhibited at the Berlin Biennale (2018), documenta fifteen (2022), and Haus der Kulturen der Welt (2024).
