Randy Robertson is an Associate Professor in the Department of English & Creative Writing at Susquehanna University, where he teaches courses on seventeenth- and eighteenth-century literature, the novel, media history, satire, and the Enlightenment. Robertson holds a B.A. from the University of Virginia, an M.A. from the University of Chicago, and a Ph.D. from Washington University.
Research Focus:
His scholarly work centers on historical literary analysis with emphases on censorship dynamics, media evolution, and Enlightenment philosophy. Robertson authored Censorship and Conflict in Seventeenth-Century England (Penn State Press) and created the digital archive The British Index, documenting 17th-century censored works. His forthcoming book examines wit and skepticism from the Renaissance onward. He also co-authored an article in The Huntington Library Quarterly with a Susquehanna student.
Professional Service:
As reviews editor for Modern Language Studies, Robertson oversees a national academic journal and involves Susquehanna students in editorial operations. He organizes annual New York City trips for English majors featuring museum visits, theater productions, and cultural dining experiences.
