Rana AL-SABBAGH is a Visiting Professor in the European Interdisciplinary Studies Department at the College of Europe's Natolin Campus. She holds dual roles as Senior Editor for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) at the Sarajevo-based Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) and co-founder of the award-winning Arab Reporters for Investigative Journalism (ARIJ).
Her career spans over four decades in journalism, including serving as the first Arab woman to lead a daily political newspaper (The Jordan Times, 1999–2002) and working as a Reuters correspondent in Jordan and the Gulf (1986–1997). She currently promotes cross-border investigative journalism in the MENA region, focusing on autocratic governance, gender equality, and media freedom.
Education: Executive Master’s in Positive Leadership and Strategy from I.E. University (Madrid). Professional Affiliations: Board member of the Global Investigative Journalism Network (since 2014). Her work emphasizes accountability journalism and media independence in politically restrictive environments.
