Dr. Omar Al-Ghazzi is an Associate Professor and Deputy Head of Department (Education) in the Department of Media and Communications at the London School of Economics (LSE). His research focuses on global communication dynamics, particularly in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, emphasizing the interplay between media, history, and conflict. He holds a PhD from the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania, with additional degrees from American University and the Lebanese American University.
Dr. Al-Ghazzi’s expertise spans journalism ethics, digital activism, collective memory, and media’s role in shaping historical narratives. He leads projects like the LSE-funded 'Arab News Futures' and contributed to UNESCO’s regional report on media freedom in the Arab world. He edits the Middle East Journal of Culture and Communication and serves on editorial boards of Journalism and International Journal of Communication.
