Ran Wei

Dr Ran Wei is a Research Scientist/Engineer at Data61, Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), serving as a project leader in the AIM Future Science Platform (FSP) and a member of the Imaging and Computer Vision (ICV) Research Group within the Cyber-Physical Systems Research Program.

• PhD in Engineering (Robotics) from Australian National University (2006)

His research interests focus on hyperspectral spectroscopy and imaging technologies, neural networks, computer vision applications in robotics, and computer vision hardware/software development. With over 15 years of experience in software development, his current work involves creating underwater optical instrument platforms integrating hyperspectral cameras and sensors for in-situ data acquisition in marine environments.

He previously worked on projects like Scyllarus Hyperspectral Image Processing (2015–2016) and Spectral Imaging for Scene Analysis (2011–2015) during his tenure at National ICT Australia (NICTA) from 2007 to 2016.
