Ramona Guthrie

Ramona Guthrie is an Assistant Chair and Assistant Professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy at Seton Hall University. With 30 years of experience as an occupational therapist and 21 years in academia, she focuses on preparing competent, compassionate entry-level occupational therapists. She holds certifications from the Seton Hall University Teaching Fellows and the Association of College and University Educators (ACUE), utilizing evidence-driven instructional strategies to foster dynamic learning experiences.

Her research explores diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) in higher education, health science pipeline programs for underrepresented populations, technology use for occupational engagement among older adults, and civic literacy for individuals with disabilities. Recent grants include funding from the American Association of University Women and the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living and Rehabilitation Research. Her work emphasizes interprofessional education, trauma-informed care, and aging in place.

Key publications and presentations address DEIB training for faculty, virtual simulations with diverse avatars, and interprofessional collaborations. She has taught courses such as Occupational Therapy Process and Professional Formation IV, and contributed to media discussions on voting rights for individuals with disabilities and healthcare ethics.
