Ralph J. Poole

Univ.-Prof. Dr. Ralph J. Poole is a Professor of American Literary and Cultural Studies and Head of Department at the University of Salzburg, Faculty of Cultural Studies. He holds institutional roles including Member of AKG, Coordinator ISEP, and Faculty Member of multiple research programs.

His research focuses on American literature from colonial times to present, popular culture genres, gender theory, and transnational studies with emphases on the Caribbean and Turkey. Current projects include collaborative work on Austrian Heimatfilm queer analysis and ongoing projects on Caribbean queer exile narratives.

Recent publications include Queer Turkey (2022) and edited volumes on early American theater. His work bridges historical analysis with contemporary cultural critique, addressing themes like gender politics and transnational cultural exchange.
