Rajesh Mangrulkar, MD, is the Marguerite S Roll Professor of Medical Education and Clinical Professor at the University of Michigan Medical School. He serves as Director of the Center for Interprofessional Education and Executive Director of RISE, an education innovation initiative. His roles include leading curriculum transformation, directing medical student education, and fostering health sciences innovation across institutions.
Education: MD from Harvard Medical School (1994), BS from University of Michigan (1989). Completed residency and chief residency in Internal Medicine at University of Michigan. Holds certifications in medical education and internal medicine.
Research focuses on organizational leadership in healthcare education, scaling educational innovations for societal impact, and interprofessional teamwork. He has led a $1.1M AMA grant to transform medical curricula and delivered a TEDMED talk on educational leadership (2016).
Awards include the Robert J. Glaser Award (2022) and National Academies of Practice Distinguished Fellowship (2024). Over 60 journal articles and 250+ presentations demonstrate his scholarly contributions.
Advising: Led medical school curricular reform as Associate Dean for Medical Student Education (2011-2021). Grants include ongoing work with AMA and FAIMER. Lab affiliations include the Center for Interprofessional Education and RISE initiative.
