Rafael R. Ioris is Professor of Latin American History and Politics at the University of Denver, with affiliations in the Josef Korbel School of International Studies. His research examines Brazilian development, Cold War geopolitics, and US-Latin American relations.
His scholarship analyzes development ideologies, authoritarian regimes, and democratic transitions across Latin America. Current projects investigate US-Brazil relations during the Cold War, right-wing populism, and technology geopolitics in 5G deployments.
Publications include monographs on Brazilian developmentalism and edited volumes on Amazonian development. Recent articles analyze neo-fascist expressions in US-Brazil relations, anti-corruption discourses, and the automotive industry's role in national development strategies.
Ioris has held visiting positions at leading global institutions including University of São Paulo, Sorbonne University, and University of Bordeaux. His research has been supported by the Mellon Foundation, Rockefeller Archive Center, and multiple national research councils.
