Dr. Maísa Edwards is a Research Affiliate and Hourly Paid Lecturer in the Departments of War Studies and History at King’s College London (KCL), affiliated with the King’s Brazil Institute within the School of Global Affairs. She holds a Joint International Relations PhD from KCL and the University of São Paulo, an MSc in Brazil in Global Perspective, and a BA in French and Spanish from UCL.
Her research focuses on Brazilian foreign and defense policy, particularly the Zone of Peace and Cooperation of the South Atlantic (ZOPACAS), Cold War diplomacy, and Brazilian-African/Latin American relations. She has published peer-reviewed articles on defense-driven foreign policy and Brazil’s geopolitical strategies, as well as contributed to discussions on South Atlantic security dynamics through podcasts and conferences.
