Radu Cascaval

Radu Cascaval is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS), where he also serves as Director of the MathOnline Program. His research bridges nonlinear wave propagation and cardiovascular mathematics, employing theoretical and computational approaches.

Cascaval's work investigates complex dynamics in biological systems using mathematical tools originally developed for wave phenomena. His lab develops numerical methods to validate hypotheses about cardiovascular function and creates new analytical frameworks for physiological systems. Current projects focus on signal perception mechanisms in plants and cardiovascular flow dynamics.

As MathOnline Director, he oversees digital mathematics education initiatives. He teaches computational mathematics courses and mentors graduate students in applied mathematics research. His work contributes to UCCS's interdisciplinary research clusters in biomedical modeling and scientific computation.
