Rachelle Sussman Rumph is currently an Associate Dean of Studies and a guest faculty member in the Department of Women’s History at Sarah Lawrence College (SLC). She holds an MA from Sarah Lawrence College and a PhD from New York University. Her research and teaching focus on visual culture theory, media history, critical race theory, and gender studies.
Previously, she taught media and communication studies at New York University and served in administrative roles focusing on academic advisement and student support. Her career at SLC spans from 1996 to the present, during which she has contributed to undergraduate discipline history and Women’s History programs.
Rumph has taught courses such as Gender, Race, and Media: Historicizing Visual Culture and Visions/Revisions: Examining Histories of Women and Gender, reflecting her interdisciplinary approach to cultural memory and media studies.
