Eduardo Lago

Eduardo Lago is a distinguished academic and writer affiliated with Sarah Lawrence College (SLC), where he has taught since 1993. He holds an MA from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and a PhD from the Graduate Center, City University of New York. His academic roles include Director of the Cervantes Institute in New York (2006–2011) and a Chair of Excellence at Carlos III University, Madrid (2008). Lago specializes in Spanish, Latin American, and European literature, with a focus on US Latinx writers and comparative literature. He is renowned for his award-winning novel Call Me Brooklyn (2006) and translations of works by authors like John Barth and Sylvia Plath into Spanish.

His research interests encompass literary translation, Joyce studies, and cultural critique, as evidenced by his 2002 Bartolomé March Award-winning analysis of Ulysses translations.
