Dr. Rachel Rensink-Hoff is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Music at Brock University's Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine & Performing Arts. She serves as Artistic Director of the Avanti Chamber Singers and founded the Niagara Choral Connections workshop series. Previously, she held a faculty position at McMaster University for eight years.
Education: DMA (Western University), MMus (Western University), BMus (Calvin College). Additional studies include Chorus America Conducting Academy, Eastman School of Music Summer Conducting Institute, and Voice Care Network of St. John’s University.
Research focuses on conductor training/mentorship, choral programming, and the intersection of creativity and mental health. Published in Choral Journal, Anacrusis, and Canadian Music Educator.
Awards include national and regional recognitions for choral conducting, teaching, and arts education. Notable achievements: Avanti Chamber Singers named 'Most Promising New Adult Ensemble' (2019), Brock Women’s Choir first prize in National Choral Competition (2015).
Professional roles: Past Vice-President of Programming for Choral Canada, Past-President of Choirs Ontario, guest conductor for youth choirs (e.g., Ontario Youth Choir 2023), and international conference presenter.
