Rachel Chambers

Rachel Chambers is an Assistant Professor in the School of Business at the University of Connecticut, specializing in Business Law with a focus on business and human rights. She holds a Ph.D. in Law from the University of Essex, an LLM from the University of Kent, and a BA/MA in Law from the University of Oxford. Her research emphasizes corporate accountability mechanisms, including transnational tort litigation and regulatory frameworks mandating human rights disclosures.

Dr. Chambers teaches courses such as 'Business and Human Rights' and 'Social Responsibility and Accountability in Business,' both cross-listed with the Human Rights Institute. She co-directs the Teaching Business and Human Rights Forum, a global network of 350 educators. Her professional background includes a decade as a barrister specializing in employment law, discrimination law, and human rights advocacy, with consultancy roles at the UN Global Compact and Amnesty International.

Her research interests span corporate accountability, human rights due diligence, and transnational legal frameworks. Notable publications include analyses of EU human rights law's impact on U.S. business practices and the role of the SEC in enforcing human rights standards. She co-directs UConn’s Business and Human Rights Initiative and advises the university’s President’s Committee on Corporate Social Responsibility.
