Rabea Müller

Prof. Dr. Rabea Müller holds a professorship for Art Therapy and heads the Institute for Art Therapy at Alanus University of Arts and Social Sciences. She also coordinates the Bachelor of Arts in Art Education Therapy (KPT). Her academic roles include founding and managing the 'Atelier artig' practice and the Akademie artig, both dedicated to art therapy and pedagogy for children and adolescents. She earned her Diplom in Special Education with a focus on art therapy from the University of Cologne in 1998 and a Dr. päd. (doctorate in education) in 2011. Müller has been a freelancer for Cologne's Museum Service since 2011 and taught at Alanus University from 2009–2019. Her research focuses on preventive art therapy for youth, transcultural children's drawing studies, and integrating digital tools like animation and VR/AR into therapy.

Her academic work emphasizes art therapy's role in crisis intervention, developmental diagnostics, and inclusive education. Key areas include using children's drawings as research tools, sustainable art therapy practices, and leveraging technology to enhance therapeutic methods. Müller has co-authored numerous books and articles, with recent publications addressing pandemic-era therapeutic challenges and digital art therapy innovations.

Müller collaborates extensively, notably with Dr. Angelika Preß and others, on projects like the 2015 book *Papas Unfall* and the 2024 study on children's drawings as research instruments. Her work bridges clinical practice, cultural studies, and technological adaptation, positioning her as a leader in contemporary art therapy research and education.
