University of ConnecticutAbout
Dr. Qin Yang is an Associate Professor at the University of Connecticut's Department of Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering and Institute of Materials Science. With a Ph.D. from Rutgers University (2006), he specializes in designing conjugated organic and polymeric materials, organic/inorganic hybrid materials, and their applications in energy and environmental technologies. His research spans precise nanostructuring through supramolecular cooperation, Pt-containing photovoltaic materials, poly(chalcogenylene vinylene) synthesis, unconventional conjugated polymers, and metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) for charge separation.
- Current Affiliation: University of Connecticut (2020–present)
- Previous Positions: Associate/Assistant Professor at University of New Mexico (2010–2020)
- Education: Ph.D. in Chemistry, Rutgers University (2006)
Research focuses on structure-property-function relationships in materials, including organic solar cells, magnetic nanoparticle composites, and anti-cancer drug discovery. His work combines organic and polymer synthesis under air-free conditions with advanced characterization (TEM, SEM, XRD, AFM) and device fabrication training.
Recent publications reveal trends in hybrid nanofiber composites, pressure-induced phase transitions in semiconductors, and tailored MOF nanostructures. Key keywords include Materials Science, Nanotechnology, Organic Electronics, and Energy Applications.
