Qi Li

Qi Li is an Assistant Professor of Economics at Penn State University. For the 2024-2025 academic year, he will be on leave at the City University of Hong Kong. His research focuses on macroeconomics, monetary economics, regional and real estate economics, labor economics, and demographic economics. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Chicago (2018), an M.A. from Peking University Guanghua School of Management (2013), and a B.A. from Peking University (2011).

His work explores intersections between economic theory and empirical analysis, with particular attention to policy implications in labor markets and regional development. He annually hires Penn State students as summer research assistants, requiring proficiency in STATA, Fortran, or Python.

Notably, his research outputs span interdisciplinary domains including materials science and biomedical studies, reflecting a broader interest in applied scientific research. He maintains an office at 501 Kern Building and can be reached at qili@psu.edu.
