Preetha Thomas is Senior Lecturer and Director of Teaching and Learning at the University of Queensland's School of Public Health. Her research examines food sovereignty, migrant food practices, and cultural dimensions of nutrition, with a focus on South Asian diaspora communities and child nutrition in Indonesia.
Her publications explore themes of dietary acculturation, indigenous food knowledge translation, and nutrient intake assessments. She employs interdisciplinary methodologies including systematic reviews and ethnographic approaches to investigate food-health-culture intersections.
She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Queensland exploring dietary practices among South Indians in Brisbane, a MSc from Bharathiar University, and a MSc from the University of London.
