Pramodita Sharma is a Professor and the Schlesinger-Grossman Chair of Family Business at the Grossman School of Business, University of Vermont. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Calgary and holds honorary doctorates from Jönköping University (Sweden) and the University of Witten/Herdecke (Germany).
Research Interests: Her work spans family business succession, governance, innovation, and leadership, with recent emphasis on spirituality, philanthropy, and sustainability in strategic decision-making. She has co-authored influential books including Patient Capital and Pioneering Family Firms’ Sustainable Development Strategies.
Leadership & Recognition: As former Editor of Family Business Review (2008–2017) and founder of the Global Family Enterprise Case Competition (2013–2023), she has shaped academic and practitioner discourse. Awards include the Barbara Hollander Award and Lifetime Influence and Impact Award.
Community Engagement: Sharma actively collaborates with family enterprises globally, integrating practitioner insights into her research. She established the UVM Family Business Awards and led the Family Enterprise Research Conference since 2005.
