Pierpaolo Grippa is a Visiting Senior Fellow at the Centre for Economic Transition Expertise, Grantham Research Institute, London School of Economics and Political Science, and a Senior Economist in the Monetary and Capital Markets Department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), where he leads a team on financial sector and climate-related analysis.

Mr. Grippa's research centers on climate-related financial risks and the role of financial regulation in the transition to a sustainable economy. He specializes in scenario-based climate risk analysis, global prudential policies, and integrating transition plans into financial supervision. His work addresses critical challenges for the global financial system in the context of climate change.
At the IMF, he has led financial sector assessments (FSAP) and technical assistance missions in emerging markets, and pioneered scenario-based climate risk analysis in FSAPs for the UK and Norway. Previously, at Banca d'Italia, he headed the Division for supervisory methods and financial conglomerates and contributed to Basel Committee working groups on risk measurement and validation.
