Phyllis Slocum

Phyllis Slocum is a Senior Lecturer at the University of North Texas with over 15 years of industry experience in television news, management, and broadcast consulting. She teaches courses in television news producing, media in the 21st century, international communications, broadcasting copywriting, and interviewing/performance techniques. As Station Manager for ntTV (North Texas Television), she oversees a 24/7 student-operated cable channel recognized for excellence.

Her professional background includes roles as anchor, reporter, producer, executive producer, and news director, complemented by 16 years in broadcast consulting focused on audience development and talent coaching. Slocum holds a BA in Political Science/International Studies from Kalamazoo College and an MA in Radio, Television and Film from UNT.
