Phillip Sechtem

Phillip Sechtem is an Associate Professor in the Department of Speech-Language Pathology at Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions, where he joined the MS in Medical Speech Language Pathology (MS.MedSLP) program in July 2017. His expertise lies in medical speech-language pathology, with a focus on neurologic communication and swallowing disorders.

• Education: B.A. in Communication (Fort Hays State University, 1990), M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology (Fort Hays State University, 1994), Ph.D. in Communication Sciences and Disorders (Wichita State University, 2013)

Dr. Sechtem specializes in advanced clinical procedures such as videostroboscopic examinations of the larynx, fiberoptic endoscopic evaluations of swallowing, modified barium swallow studies, and tracheoesophageal voice restoration. His teaching emphasizes neurologic bases of communication, anatomy and physiology of speech and hearing, and evidence-based patient care.
