Philippos Louis

Philippos Louis is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Economics within the School of Economics and Management at the University of Cyprus, where he has been employed since 2017. He previously held positions as a Lecturer (tenure track) from 2017-2022 before his current appointment. Dr. Louis also serves as co-coordinator of the interdisciplinary MSc in Behavioural Economics, a joint program between the Department of Economics and Department of Psychology.

Dr. Louis received his education in three stages:

• Ph.D. in Economic Analysis from Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona (2012)
• M.Sc. in Economic Analysis from Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona (2007)
• B.Sc. in Public and Business Administration from University of Cyprus (2005)

He completed postdoctoral research at the University of Zurich (2012-2015) and University of New South Wales in Sydney (2016-2017).

His research focuses on Behavioral Economics, Game Theory, Market Design, and Experimental Economics, with particular emphasis on auction mechanisms, preference aggregation, coordination problems, and equilibrium concepts. His methodological approach combines theoretical modeling with laboratory experiments to investigate decision-making processes and market mechanisms.

Recent publications (2015-2024) demonstrate consistent focus on experimental and theoretical approaches to market design and game theory, with evolving emphasis on behavioral aspects of economic decisions. Key patterns include auction mechanism comparisons, collective decision-making dynamics, and equilibrium refinement in strategic interactions, often featuring laboratory validation of theoretical models.
