Philippe Castel is a Professor at the University of Burgundy, affiliated with the Socio-Psychology and Sports Management Laboratory. His research intersects social categorization, social representations, and the social psychology of language. He developed the RepMut® methodology to diagnose intergroup relations through mutual representations, supported by funding from PEPS, SATT, and CPER. His work identifies three discrimination mechanisms: statutory, oppositive, and community partitions. Castel leads the RepMut.com platform and RepMutStat software, with applications in health, sport, urban studies, and socio-ecological transitions.
