About
Ana Roxin is a Research Professor at the University of Bourgogne Franche-Comté (UBFC), affiliated with the Laboratoire d'Informatique de Bourgogne (LIB) within the Faculty of Sciences and Technology. She holds HDR (Habilitation à Diriger les Recherches) and specializes in Symbolic Artificial Intelligence, Semantic Web technologies, and BIM (Building Information Modeling). Her work focuses on knowledge representation, semantic interoperability, and integrating AI into construction and infrastructure systems.
Her research addresses challenges in representing domain knowledge for computers to reason like humans, particularly in modeling business know-how with formal approaches. Key projects include the ANR McBIM project on smart materials and BIM integration, and the HERMES project on additive manufacturing semantics. She also leads the DATAVIEW project on urban ontology federation.
Roxin teaches across levels from undergraduate to doctoral programs at the University of Bourgogne, covering topics like Web semantics, BIM, and cybersecurity. She advises numerous PhD students and co-leads research teams in France and internationally. Her administrative roles include membership in CEN/TC 442 and ISO committees for BIM standards.
Publications highlight contributions to semantic interoperability, neuro-symbolic AI, and BIM/GIS integration. Notable works include ontology alignment frameworks (FOWLA), rule-based BIM view extraction, and disaster response simulations using multi-agent systems.
