Philip Langeskov

Philip Langeskov is an Associate Professor in Creative Writing at the University of East Anglia (UEA), specifically within the School of Literature, Drama and Creative Writing. He holds a PhD in Creative and Critical Writing from UEA and has extensive experience in both creative writing and academic roles. Beyond teaching, he directs the Spring Literary Festival, which has hosted renowned writers like George Saunders and Ali Smith, and co-leads the UEA Publishing Project, an independent press initiative focusing on emerging voices and international collaborations.

His academic journey includes a BA in English Language and Literature from University College London (UCL) followed by a decade in publishing in London before transitioning to academia. His creative work includes the short story collection Barcelona (2013) and stories featured in prestigious platforms like Best British Short Stories and BBC Radio 3’s The Verb. He focuses on supervising postgraduate students in short fiction and critical analyses of the contemporary short story form.

Langeskov’s research interests span narrative techniques, cultural identity, and the intersection of creative writing with critical theory. His publishing projects emphasize promoting underrepresented voices, such as the Keshiki Series featuring Japanese writers, and anthologies like Five Boiler House Poets.
