Phaik Liew is a Senior Lecturer in Construction at the School of Engineering and Built Environment, part of the College of Social Sciences and Arts at Sheffield Hallam University. She holds qualifications including MSc, PgCert, ICIOB (Incorporated Member of Chartered Institution of Building), and FHEA (Fellow of the Higher Education Academy). Her career began as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor before transitioning to academia. Previously, she served as Head of the Division of Building at Tunku Abdul Rahman College (TARC), Malaysia, overseeing 10 programs across Architecture, Building, Property Management, and Quantity Surveying for 1,500+ students annually. At Sheffield Hallam, she teaches Construction Management modules focusing on Project Planning, Scheduling, IT Applications, and Professional Practices. She contributes to curriculum development, research, and scholarly activities.
Research interests include Project Planning, Leadership in Project Management, Change Management, and Life Cycle Costing. She supervises student dissertations in these areas and is part of the Editorial Board for the Built Environment Research Transactions. She also led the BSc (Hons) International Construction Management & Economics program and contributed to marketing materials for related courses.
