Petra Weingerl

Petra Weingerl serves as Associate Professor at the Department of European and International Law and International Cooperation, Faculty of Law, University of Maribor, with adjunct appointments at University of Trieste. Her academic network spans European University Institute (Florence), Max Planck Institute (Hamburg), and law faculties across Münster, Genova, Leuven, and Wrocław.

Education:

Research Focus: Professor Weingerl's scholarship critically examines EU legal frameworks through the lens of fundamental rights enforcement, private law mechanisms, and emerging technological challenges. Her work bridges consumer protection, internal market regulation, and circular economy policy with cutting-edge analysis of AI governance and digitization impacts on legal systems. Current projects investigate deterrence in private enforcement and fundamental rights compliance in business contexts.
