Pierluigi Simone

Pierluigi Simone is an Assistant Professor of International Law at the Department of Law, University of Rome Tor Vergata, and holds a chair of EU Law at the University of Naples Parthenope’s Department of Economics. He is also a practicing lawyer admitted to Italy’s Supreme Court of Cassation. His research focuses on international law, EU law, criminal justice, and police cooperation, with notable works on minority rights protection and Europol’s role in European policing. He authored a book on minority protection in international law and over 60 essays in public international law, private international law, and EU law.

Simone previously served in the Legal Service of Italy’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1995–2003) and has lectured extensively for Italian law enforcement academies (Guardia di Finanza, Carabinieri) and public institutions. He has held a professorship in EU Law at Çukurova University (Turkey) and serves on editorial boards of legal journals including Diritto e giurisprudenza agraria e dell'ambiente. His research is supported by grants from the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (CNR) and the Italian Ministry of Education, and he has conducted studies at UNESCO, the Max-Planck Institute, and European Union legal institutions.

His over 60 scholarly articles span biomedical research (e.g., transglutaminase mechanisms in cancer, radiation effects on visual systems) and legal studies. Recent work explores biodynamic supplements for skin ulcers and phytochemicals’ immunomodulatory roles in melanoma. He is a member of leading international legal societies including ESIL and the International Law Association.
