Dr. Peter Howard-Jones is a Senior Lecturer in Economics at Bournemouth University, where he also completed his Ph.D. in 2019. His research focuses on the economic impacts of policy frameworks like the Washington Consensus and EU membership, particularly in transitional economies. He received the 2021 European Association of Economic Studies prize for his doctoral thesis on Eastern European economic transitions. Before academia, he held senior roles as a multinational CEO, management consultant, and chairman, with extensive experience in fast-moving consumer goods and engineering sectors across Europe and Southeast Asia. His work aligns with UN SDGs related to sustainable industry, responsible consumption, and strong institutions.
He holds a Ph.D. and BA in Economics from Bournemouth University. His teaching emphasizes historical and contemporary perspectives, earning positive student feedback. He has presented at international conferences such as the European Association of Comparative Economic Studies and contributed to peer-reviewed journals in economics and finance. His publications explore topics like Brexit’s neoliberal implications, firm productivity under EU accession, and the UK’s productivity paradox.
