Peter Fleming

Peter Fleming is a Professor at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) in the Management Discipline Group, part of the Business School. He previously held the position of Professor of Business and Society at City University of London. His research focuses on the future of work, ethical implications of capitalism, and socio-economic consequences of labor market dynamics. Fleming has authored influential books such as The Worst is Yet to Come and Sugar Daddy Capitalism, and his work appears in leading journals like Organization Studies and Academy of Management Learning and Education. He chairs the London Living Wage Symposium and has been recognized with the Dean’s Prize for Teaching Excellence.

Fleming’s funded research includes the ARC Discovery Project Business and Democracy: Power, Profit and Participation (2024–2026). He is a senior editor at Organization Studies and frequently contributes to media discussions on economic and labor issues. His recent work critiques gig economy platforms, corporate social responsibility rhetoric, and the normalization of precarious work.
