Dr. Peter Cruddas is a Senior Lecturer in Water and Environmental Engineering at the University of Portsmouth, specializing in wastewater treatment and resource recovery. He holds a PhD from Cranfield University and has experience in both academic and industrial roles, including a previous position at Botswana International University of Science and Technology. His research focuses on sustainable wastewater management, coastal pollution remediation, and WASH (Water, Sanitation, Hygiene) in developing countries. He leads the Nutrient Reduction project with the Environment Agency and collaborates on EC Interreg projects like NEREUS.
Education: BEng (Civil & Structural Engineering) from University of Bradford, MSc (Water Management) from Cranfield University, PhD (Anaerobic Wastewater Treatment) from Cranfield University.
Research Interests: Resource recovery from wastewater, circular economy applications, faecal sludge management, coastal pollution (e.g., nitrate remediation in Portsmouth Harbour), and sustainable sanitation technologies. He also explores the socio-economic impacts of WASH initiatives in developing regions.
