About
Peter Cook is an Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Manchester's Division of Immunology, Immunity to Infection and Respiratory Medicine. His work focuses on immune responses to fungal pathogens like Aspergillus, particularly how dendritic cells mediate allergic airway inflammation. He holds a BSc (Hons) in Genetics from the University of York and a PhD investigating helminth-induced skin immunity. After postdoctoral training at the University of Edinburgh and Manchester Collaborative Centre for Inflammation Research (MCCIR), he established a research group in 2016 to study fungal-triggered allergic disease mechanisms.
Research Interests:
- Role of dendritic cells in allergic asthma and fungal infections
- Type-2 immunity and innate immune responses
- Development of therapeutics targeting fungal-induced inflammation
Key Activities:
- Co-Organized British Society of Immunology Meeting on Type 2 Immunology (2019)
- Recipient of the Dean’s Prize (2016) supporting his research group
Labs/Teams: Active within the Manchester Collaborative Centre for Inflammation Research (MCCIR), collaborating internationally on immune response dynamics in parasitic and fungal infections.
