Dr. Peter A Lee is a Professor and Director of the School of Social Work at San José State University. He also serves as a Provost Fellow directing the Academic Affairs Leadership Discovery Group (AALDG). His roles include former Director of the School, MSW Program Coordinator, Graduate Advisor, and Director of the Center for Human Services Research and Development.
Dr. Lee holds a PhD and MSW in social welfare from the University of California, Berkeley. His research focuses on Asian American psychological development, ethnic groups in child welfare/mental health systems, and social work education. He co-created 'Social Workers in the Library' with SJPL and collaborates with The Salvation Army and regional nonprofits on youth/family programs. He led curriculum development partnerships with Vietnam's National University to advance social work education in Vietnam. He previously directed CommUniverCity San Jose and SJSU's UP Pre-College program. He serves on the California Social Work Hall of Distinction committee.
His community engagement includes leadership in programs addressing youth development, family support, and international education initiatives. Administrative expertise spans academic leadership, research centers, and interdisciplinary collaborations in human services.
