Pete Churchill is a Professor of Jazz Composition at the Royal Academy of Music and Head of Jazz Voice at the Brussels Royal Conservatoire. With nearly 30 years of experience as a composer, pianist, singer, and educator, he is a leading figure in UK Jazz education, honored with the Parliamentary Award for Jazz Education (2007) and subsequent nominations. His work spans international teaching and collaborations with legends such as Kenny Wheeler, Sheila Jordan, and Jon Hendricks.
As founder/director of The London Vocal Project (LVP), Churchill has produced acclaimed works like Mirrors and led the world premiere of Jon Hendricks' Miles Ahead in New York. He previously served as piano accompanist to Mark Murphy and conductor of Kenny Wheeler’s Big Band, culminating in the album The Long Waiting.
His research and artistic practice emphasize vocal creativity, jazz composition pedagogy, and cross-cultural collaboration. Churchill’s career bridges performance excellence with educational innovation, shaping generations of jazz artists globally.
