Paula Sanmartín is a Professor in the Department of Modern and Classical Languages and Literatures at California State University, Fresno. She teaches courses in Afro-Spanish and Afro-Caribbean literatures, with a focus on African American and Afro-Latin American women's writing. She has also served as Cohort Leader for the CAH Honors program (2018-2019) and Graduate Coordinator for the M.A. Program in Spanish (2016-2020).

She has taught courses ranging from Afro-Hispanic Women’s Literature to The Poetics of Caribbeanness.
