About
Dr. Paula Kuzbit serves as Associate Head of School for Undergraduate Nursing at Canterbury Christ Church University's School of Nursing, Midwifery, Allied and Public Health (Faculty of Medicine, Health and Social Care). With over two decades in higher education, she specializes in cancer nursing, sexuality, and social justice, and leads pre-registration nursing programs to meet NMC standards.
Her academic qualifications include:
- Nursing Diploma, Frances Harrison College of Health Care (University of Surrey), 1995
- Master’s Degree in Advanced Practice (Cancer Nursing), University of Surrey, 2004
- Post Graduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching, 2005
- PhD (2023): "Queering the Sick Room: A Queer Feminist Narrative Inquiry into the Lived Experiences of Lesbians with Cancer"
Dr. Kuzbit's research employs intersectional feminist and queer theory to investigate healthcare disparities among marginalized populations, particularly LGBTQ+ individuals with cancer. She examines how nursing practice can be reimagined to promote social justice and inclusivity, challenging heteronormative assumptions in clinical settings through critical theoretical frameworks that bridge cancer care, sexual identity, and systemic equity.
