Paula Karlsson-Brown

Paula Karlsson-Brown is a Senior Lecturer at the Adam Smith Business School, University of Glasgow. Her work focuses on third sector management, risk governance in public service partnerships, and innovative pedagogical approaches. She leads research on societal resilience, circular economy transitions, and learning community development through collaborative projects with voluntary sector organizations.

Her research explores interdisciplinary themes including risk management in non-traditional partnerships, digital education transformation, and the role of universities as knowledge brokers for civil society. Key contributions include frameworks for improving risk practices in charities, frameworks for place-based public service delivery, and digital tools for enhancing student engagement such as the Digital One Minute Paper (DOMP).

Recent activities include editing special issues on post-pandemic resilience in Continuity and Resilience Review and presenting at international conferences like IRSPM and the European Management Journal. Paula has secured grants including ESRC Impact Acceleration funding for supporting the social economy during the pandemic and The Case Centre’s scholarship for strategic case development.
